Dr. Heaton grew up in Raleigh and then attended the University of North Carolina for both undergraduate studies and medical school graduating in 1972. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Los Angeles County-University of Southern California Medical Center in 1976. He has been in private practice in Raleigh since then. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, the American Medical Association, the North Carolina Medical Society, the North Carolina Obstetrical and Gynecological Society and the Wake County Medical Society. He practices primarily at Wake Med, although he is also on the staff at Rex Hospital.
His interests are in infertility, gynecological surgery, as well as menopausal medicine and routine gynecological care.
Dr. Heaton is married and has one daughter and one son.
Dr. Williams was born in Concord, North Carolina and grew up in Burlington, North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina for undergraduate and medical school graduating in 1985. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina in 1989 and then moved to Raleigh where he has since practiced. He is board certified and is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the North Carolina Medical Society, the Robert Ross Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, and the Wake County Medical Society, which he has served as a past president.
His interests are infertility, pre-conceptional counseling, health issues in athletes, and perimenopausal medicine.
Dr. Williams is married to Elizabeth Aldridge Williams and has two sons and one daughter.
Dr. Benavides grew up in Laredo, Texas. She attended Princeton University for her undergraduate education and received her medical degree from Columbia University. She moved to Chapel Hill in 2002 for her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology. After finishing her OB/GYN residency at UNC-CH, she completed an advanced pelvic surgery fellowship in Dallas, Texas.
Dr. Benavides married Robert Marshall, M.D. in September, 2006. Robert is a practicing anesthesiologist in Raleigh.
Dr. Benavides' special interests include surgery for incontinence, pelvic relaxation, and total laparoscopic hysterectomy. She speaks fluent Spanish and enjoys running, reading, and traveling.
Dr. Marston was raised in Massachusetts and completed her undergraduate and medical studies at the University of Vermont in 1989. She then completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1993. She has since been in private practice in Raleigh and a clinical assistant professor at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Her interests include adolescent gynecology, routine gynecologic care and wellness, gynecologic surgery, and menopausal medicine.
She is married to William A Marston MD, a vascular surgeon at UNC Chapel Hill. She has a daughter named Rachel, two Labrador retrievers and a horse named Fred.
Julia B. Allen (Judy) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She sees adults who are seeking help for a variety of emotional or family issues including depression, anxiety or panic attacks, marital problems, infertility, life transitions, aging parents, and grief and loss. Her services are usually covered by insurance. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and worked in several agency settings before entering private practice in 1979. She has been with Drs. Heaton, Fulghum & Williams since 1995. She is a member of The National Association of Social Workers, the North Carolina Society for Clinical Social Work and Anxiety Disorders Association of America.
In her leisure time, she enjoys getting together with family and friends, traveling, theater and collecting pottery.
Louise Coggins is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill receiving a Bachelor in psychology in 1974 and a Masters of social work in 1980. She has been in private practice as a psychotherapist for over 23 years, and working with a psychiatrist, Dr. Charles Wallace, for 11 years and in practice with Dr. Heaton since 1991. She is a member of The Academy of Certified Social Workers and The North Carolina Clinical Social Work Society, and is a Board Certified Diplomat. She works with couples, families, individuals, and groups, as well as doing supervision for other clinicians and frequent public speaking.
She also has a practice in Wilmington, N.C. four days a week and sees clients in Raleigh one day a week.
She has been married to Steve Coggins, an attorney for over 30 years, and grew up in Rocky Mount, N.C.
Ellen Pizer is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina. She received her B.A. in French from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Ellen went on the Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts where she graduated with a Masters Degree in Social Work. Ellen has been in private practice since December 2000. She currently practices individual treatment with adolescents and adults, as well as couples and family therapy.
